old friends....

this was the trip i didn't think i would ever get to go on. but, thanks to the generosity of pam, her husband, taylor, and my parents, i got to go.

a little background information: i met pam the first day of college, september 1974. she was the roommate of my old friend linda, who had been my best friend in 10th grade. in 1971, the city of richmond annexed the section of chesterfield county that linda lived in, and thus, she would have had to attend richmond city schools. instead, her parents shipped her up the road to amelia county, where she graduated from amelia academy, and where she met pam. in that first week of school linda also met her husband, chuck, and here we are, 32 years later, celebrating our 50th birthdays together.

chuck is the assistant superintendent of carlsbad national caverns in new mexico, and he and linda have been park service gypsies all of our adult lives. they rented a condo for the week june 18th, 2006 in pagosa springs, colorado, and linda invited pam and i to come out and visit with them. we did.
